Tapioca Mobile, a provider of mobile video and other rich media, has raised a $5 million first round, reports peHUB based on a company regulatory filing. Funding came from Venrock, which also participated in an unspecified seed round last September. The San Diego-based company offers platform services to content providers, as well as services to advertisers. Co-founder and CEO Sachin Deshpande previously headed BREW developer relations at Qualcomm.
