7Seas, the Hyderabad based gaming company which recently acquired the German gaming firm Neodelight in an all cash deal, has signed an agreement with Neetu Chandra to develop a mobile game with her as the lead character.
The game, with an enormous title of Neetu – The Alien Killer Game Story: 3000 AD is “based on a unique game story and revolves around the lead character killing different aliens,” Maruti Sanker .L, Managing Director of 7Seas Technologies, said in this ET article.
The concept seems hardly unique at all, killing aliens has been done to death. Besides, I am personally offended by the concept, its culturally impolite to shoot visitors who have traveled light years, even if just to destroy Earth.
One long wrong path the gaming industry can go down is developing IP licensed software compared to IP owned franchises. Most of the highest selling games in the world are those that were property’s developments. EA itself has been at the center of much industry ire for sequelititis and almost a diseased reliance on third party IPR. 7Seas also runs an online gaming portal called Onlinerealgames.com, regular CS readers will remember Zapak’s ‘Beach Blaze’ based on a Bipasha Basu.
7Seas would be launching this game along with other genres of games like puzzle, racing, adventure and action during the next quarter through mobile aggregators and operators worldwide.
