Mobile entertainment company Buongiorno (BIT: BNG) is investing 10 million euros ($15.5 million) to upgrade its mobile social network BING. First launched in June 2007 in South Africa and Austria of all places, it is now in 11 countries in total, a mix of European and developing countries including the UK, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Vietnam. BING, which is aimed at 16-18 year olds, sees over 20 million messages exchanged per week, (quadruple late 2007 figures) and over 1.2 million logins. Fernando Gonzalez Mesones, Head of Global Marketing, Product & Supply of Buongiorno said, “The enormous popularity of social networking obviously represents a huge opportunity for us. It is our goal to become one of the most recognized global brands in mobile social networking” (release).
