Nimbus Sport International has announced that they will distribute mobile clips from the English Premier League in Cambodia, reports UNI. Nimbus has tied up with CamGSM, Cambodia’s largest telco, for three seasons – from 2007/2008 to 2009/2010. The content portfolio: video clips of highlights and previews, and wallpapers. This may be a three season deal, but we’re nearing the end of the EPL season, with around 8-9 games remaining for most clubs. This is first announcement of an operator deal after Nimbus bagged the mobile and Internet rights for the EPL in August last year, a 1140 game deal till 2010, covering 80 countries.
The content is accessible via the sim-tool-kit (STK) or here. I just checked and unlimited content downloads are priced at $3/month. Individual content is obviously more expensive: a 20-25 second clip of the (largely forgettable) ManU v Derby game is priced at $0.20. Match clips are longer and more expensive – $0.50; post-match interviews are priced at $0.30. Though Cambodia’s currency is Riel, the US Dollar is also widely used. Any idea what the revenue share deals in Cambodia are like?
