Google Maps offers a full API, but it’s not always the easiest thing in the world to use. If you only need to build and maintain a few maps, take a look at Click2Map instead. This service lets you build a Google Map using their own visual editor, where you place markers just by clicking and use a popup window to set things like title and URL for the markers. When you’re done, you can publish your map to the web, which gives you a URL on the Click2Map servers that you can share with anyone.
The basic service, which includes an unlimited number of maps and markers, is free. Paid plans, starting at $9/month, add additional features including widget publishing, reports, import and export tools, and a way to hook up a custom database to drive map creation.
