– Online Job Ads’ February Slowdown: There were 3.9 million web-based help wanted ads posted in February, for only a 3 percent gain year-over-year, the Conference Board reported. Compared to the previous month, the February numbers were up 17 percent over January 2008, which reflected an expected post-holiday seasonal boost. Still, a wider look shows further evidence of a slowdown, as the board described January’s year-over-year 7 percent increase in online job ads as “sluggish.”
