Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) India has now announced the setting up of a new lab in Bangalore. The new lab, which will be headed by Rakeev Rastogi, will focus on developing next generation search and advertising technologies. Rastogi has been appointed VP, and he joins from Bell Labs India, where he was the founding director. Rastogi has experience in database systems, data mining and network management, and he will set up a team of scientists and engineers for the new lab. So looks like Yahoo will be hiring now; readers might remember that the company had recently laid off 45 employees, as a part of a global downsizing initiative. [via release]
