Excel collaboration tool eXpresso has come out of beta, and as a result has split its offerings into free basic and paid pro versions. The basic point of eXpresso is to make Excel into an online-enabled collaborative tool: it lets you upload your spreadsheets, share them with others, and collaborate in real-time. The free basic version includes the ability to store 5 spreadsheets, share and edit them online, and use basic collaboration tools.
Much of the meat of the product is now in the Pro version though: features like tracking changes to cells, version rollback, real-time archived chat, and security on a per-cell or per-region basis are all part of the paid offering now. At $15 per month after a 30-day trial, the price is reasonable if you’re a geographically-distributed spreadsheet-driven organization, but that may be a bit steep for folks who were testing out these features for free.
