Eros Launches Ondemand Portal; Rev Model Similar To Rajshri

[by Cerius Shah] Eros Entertainment, who recently hit blockbuster with Om Shanti Om, has announced its On-demand sub-portal, Ondemand.erosentertainment.com

According to the press release, the portal will feature more than 1300 titles, 5000 music videos, behind the scenes, movie clips and events. They have also been recently talking to a number of TV channels to stream content for a CPM fee on similar lines as Rajshri. The portal features full length ad-supported movies available for streaming, example here. Their recent acquisition of 51% stake in Tamil producer Ayngaran will also see them adding ad supported Tamil content. Music albums are priced at Rs 59 or approx $1.50, individual tracks are priced at Rs 19. A typical hindi album has 8 tracks, thats Rs 152 for an album if bought individually.

The DVD store features the Eros catalogue, they are also powering the same on other websites, recent titles like OSO are retailing for Rs 499 (approx $13), other titles such as Jab we met start at Rs 49 (Bigflicks offers the same for download-to-own at Rs 400!) . The model is very reminiscent of Rajshri, Cheeni Kum for example is available at a similar price point of Rs 400 ($9.99)for download to own and Rs 120 for a stream and download to rent (expires after first play). Eros runs an official partner channel on Youtube running on a fairly decent partner channel rank #68 all time. Eros had recently tied up with Joost starting with 200 movies and 600 music videos on the internet television service.
