NYC-based Familybuilder, a genealogy-oriented social networking startup, has raised a $1.5 million first round from London-based DN Capital. In August, the company, then-called iFamily, took unspecified funding from CountryRoad Capital, which is the firm of one of its co-founders. The funding coincides with the launch of its genealogy app on Bebo, and it plans to use the funding to roll out more apps on other social networking services. The company already claims 2 million registered users of its Facebook app. The company’s two co-founders, Andrew Merkatz and Ilya Nikolayev, have financial backgrounds. Release.
