Buffalo, NY-based As It Is, an intellectual property incubator, has raised $3 million of a planned $5 million first round from various investors. The company will use the funds to develop the TrueThinker service, a drag-and-drop home page that uses its own intelligence to serve up relevant content to the user. The company claims its technology represents the fruit of 40 years of artificial intelligence research. In addition to the AI aspect, there’s also a social component, allowing users meet others with similar interests. One difference between it and leading services, such as Netvibes: it plans to charge an annual subscription fee for the service. Release.
