GeoSentric owned GyPSii, which provides a geo-location social networking platform and services for mobile, web and set-top boxes has partnered with Broadway to offer the full suite of services in India. GyPSii allows users to upload pictures, videos and sound clips recorded with their phone, automatically encoded with the location where the content was created. The service also offers maps and directions, a real-time friend finder and local search on both GPS and non-GPS enabled the mobile devices. Last year, GeoSentric had received $13.1 million in a round of funding led by Horizon Group and Schroders Private Bank. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) had put GyPSii on its N95 and 6110 handsets. GyPSii’s is expected to be launched in India in the first quarter of 2008.

We’ve never heard of Broadway before: it’s website, mentioned in this release as www.broadway.in, does not work. The release states that Broadway is based in Mumbai and has a Hosted Service Environment within BSE listed IOL Netcom’s network operating center (NOC), so this might just be about set-top-boxes as well. GyPSii is the third mobile community venture to enter India in recent times – after Loop Mobile and JuiceCaster.
