Power To-Do List: One for the Windows Users

ScreenshotTo-do lists are a perennial favorite of web workers. While there are many online ways to manage your tasks, some of us prefer to have everything on our local computer. If you’re on Windows, there’s a new option for this with a GTD flavor: Power To-Do List from Five O’Clock Software.

While it doesn’t have the slick lickable interface of OS X favorites like OmniFocus or Things, Power To-Do List does cover the essentials: reasonably easy task entry (including a “brain dump” section that lets you just type a long list and sort it out later), assignment of contexts and projects, and multiple views. You can add due dates, assignees, notes, and alarms to any task if a strict GTD methodology doesn’t appeal to you. A series of reports also gives you a set of ways to print out a paper task list to take with you.

If you’ve got experience with one of the higher-end GTD applications, Power To-Do List might be a bit simplistic for you – for example, there’s no integration with other applications for automatic task import or export, and the various views can’t be filtered down to let you focus on a single project. On the other hand, it’s a big improvement from just dumping an unsorted list of tasks into Outlook. You can try the application for free, or purchase a copy for $39.95.
