Damon Phillips is joining ESPN (NYSE: DIS) as the new VP of broadband network ESPN360.com; the post has been vacant since Jeff Cravens left in October. His responsibilities include strategy, programming and operations as well as working. He’ll report to John Zehr, SVP-digital media production, and John Papa, VP, strategic program planning. Phillips most recently was assistant executive director of USA Football; he’s also the founder of sportsTVinsider.com, a site that provides personalized sports schedules based on user preferences, real-time sports statistics and television ratings. (He was also a linebacker at Stanford.)
ESPN360.com has been going through changes in the last few months, switching from on-demand programming to primarily live events last fall and opening access beyond subscribers whose ISPs license the network to include .edu and.mil users.
