Another day, another online comedy brand: The Independent Comedy Network (ICN), a new online comedy brand, has announced its official schedule of original scripted series available on Icn.tv and launched a social network at community.icn.tv. (Ed. note: The official launch date is tomorrow.) The new programs, 2/8 Life, Inappropriate Workplace, Annals, Plea Bargain Advertising and Warthog are five of the proposed 40 shows to be released this year and will run new episodes weekly on the main site as well as the network’s 15 distribution partners, including YouTube, MySpaceTV, Blip, Vuze and DailyMotion, among others.
ICN was founded in 2007 by former JP Morgan private equity banker and Upright Citizens Brigade Theater alum Marc Campbell and grew out of The Westside Eclectic, the comedy school and theater Campbell started in Santa Monica, CA in 2005. The company is backed by investors and advisors including Bill Apfelbaum, chairman of Titan Worldwide; Scott Carlin, president of domestic programming distribution for HBO; Sandy Fox of Fox Law Group; and Dick Robertson, former president of Warner Bros. domestic TV distribution.
