Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) rolled out a 16 GB model of the iPhone today, double its previous capacity of 8 GB. The 8 GB version remains priced at $399, while the 16 GB version costs $499. The new iPhone was also launched in the UK, where it sells for £329 ($658). The 8GB iPhone continues to sell for for £269 ($538). Not yet announced: a 3G iPhone, despite speculation on it. In November, AT&T (NYSE: T) CEO Randall Stephenson said consumers could expect a 3G iPhone sometime in 2008.
In other iPhone news, CNN Money reports that Belgium may be in line to get the iPhone. Benoit Scheen, CEO of Belgium’s second largest carrier Mobistar, said that they could make a deal this year to offer the iPhone to Belgian customers. At the same time, he cautioned that Belgium was not a “priority” for Apple, “‘so it will be many months before we will know more about the Belgian market’.
