A New Recruiting Channel – Jobs in Pods wants to help connect hiring managers with candidates via podcasts. Their plan is simple: employers pay them to produce a podcast, which is then distributed via the Jobs in Pods site and other podcasting channels. The Jobs in Pods staff interviews someone from the employer to talk about the company as well as the positions they’re hiring for, and at the end directs qualified applicants to the company web site to apply.
It’s an interesting idea, and a way to get a bit more depth on a company before you apply to work there. Right now the site is just getting underway, so there are not a huge number of jobs here, but they’ve already managed to get content from a dozen or so companies across the country posted.
Assets on the Google Platform – There are a lot of asset management solutions out there. The latest one I’ve run across is StrongTech Property, a web-based system whose selling point is integration with the Google applications that you already use. They’re set up to allow you to manage any sort of physical asset, but they leverage as much as possible services such as Google Documents, Google Calendar, Google Maps, and Google Groups to provide functionality. I wonder whether we’re going to see more web applications built on the premise that you already use and love Google’s services?
Cut & Paste Social Networking – We’ve certainly seen a variety of premises for social networks, but ControlC has a new one: your clipboard. Once you sign up (at the moment it’s invitation-only) and install their software, everything you copy to your clipboard also gets sent to their servers. This gives you a secure & encrypted clipboard history. The networking? You can also share anything from your clipboard with the world, star items of interest from other users, mark users as friends and so on.
