A sad and a happy day for us, as our sister site mocoNews experiences a change of guard: James Pearce, our principal correspondent who has been with us for more than three years, is leaving for more creative pastures: he is interested in creative writing, short stories and comics for online, and will now be exploring those areas. James was the first reporter I hired back in late 2004 and he has helped mocoNews become the industry standard in more ways than one. He will rejoin us as a freelancer in the next couple of months, helping in our mobile games coverage.
At the same time, we’re very pleased to introduce you to our newest hire, whose tenure started with a bang when *Microsoft* bid for Yahoo: Tricia Duryee joins us from The Seattle Times as principal correspondent for mocoNews. Based in Seattle, where she will remain, Tricia has been covering technology and wireless for the paper and its website since 2000; in addition to news reporting, she’s also been blogging there for the past 18 months. A Seattle native, she attended the University of Oregon, where she received a degree in journalism and communications with a minor in business. You’ll see a lot of her on this site and at our events in the coming months, working on breaking stories and in-depth industry coverage. (Those of you in the Seattle area also may see her on the slopes.) She can be contacted at tricia AT moconews.net.
As the mobile industry continues to evolve, our coverage and focus areas have also changed — moving from the traditional buckets of mobile content — ringtones, gaming, video — to more coverage of the underlying tech issues, open access and how that effects business models, more mobile advertising, more coverage of operators, and more international coverage (aided by our UK correspondent Dianne See Morrison as well as PC:UK Editor Robert Andrews, and our ContentSutra coverage in India). One thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to bringing you the best in news and analysis.
