When Bebo’s interactive video drama KateModern killed off its eponymous lead character at the start of its second season earlier this month, it seemed like just a natural arc in the narrative (Kate was being pursued by the same blood-thirsty sect that plagued LonelyGirl15). But, asked why she killed Kate at MidemNet, Bebo international president Joanna Shields said: “We did actually, because the audience didn’t fancy her. We constantly take the pulse of the network about how they feel about a particular thing.” Not that the show overall hasn’t been a success – season one clocked up over 35 million views.
