Box.net, an online digital media and file storage provider, has received $6 million in its second round funding led by U.S. Venture Partners and previous investor Draper Fisher Jurvetson. The Palo Alto, CA-based company, which now has over 1.4 million registered users, will use the capital to continue its expansion and develop and market new services and products. It recently launched OpenBox, an open platform connecting Box.net data with other web-based applications (such as Netvibes and others), allowing users to manage their files from a single point.
