New Orange CEO Tom Alexander has appointed three of his ex-colleagues from Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM), the MVNO of which he was the founder/CEO and which became the fifth-largest operator in the UK. Andrew Ralston has been appointed Orange UK’s chief operations officer; Gerry McQuade will be chief development officer, with a brief to ensure Orange is customer-focused and cost-effective; Steven Day has been appointed chief of staff and communications reports FT. If Alexander was hired because of the success of Virgin, it’s no surprise that he’d look there for other people who he knows are good.
