The mobile content platform and services company Motricity has sold off an outlying division: its online eBook store eReader.com. It has sold it off to Fictionwise, an independent eBook retailer based in New Jersey. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The eReader business dates back to the early days of Durham, NC-based Motricity…the business was originally part of PowerByHand, the company that in 2004 merged with PinPoint Networks to form Motricity, reports BizJournals. Since then, as we have documented on this site, its focus has been on mobile content technology and platform services, and it recently bought Infospace’s mobile division.
Fictionwise said it plans to continue eReader.com as a separate site. Some more details in the release.
