Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Business India, the telecom operators joint venture with India’s electronics major Videocon Group, has received licenses for international and national long distance services. Verizon owns an ISP license in India, intends to offer leased lines – with multi protocol label switching (MPLS) and Internet protocol (IP) services. They’ll deploy nodes in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi to support Verizon Business’ MPLS, Global Data Link and Ethernet Virtual Private Line solutions, as per the release. Verizon Business has also announced the appointment of John Samuel as president of Verizon Business India. Verizon is also reportedly eying a telecom license in India.
