Xobni is Opening Up

ScreenshotMicrosoft Outlook add-on Xobni (which our parent site GigaOm pronounced “the coolest company at TechCrunch 40“) is still in beta – but they’re opening the beta up to many more people as of today. So far they’ve been tightly controlling access, but if you’re one of the 14,000 users who signed up before January 1, you should shortly be getting your access – as well as 5 invitations to share with your friends.

For Outlook users, Xobni offers many of the features that Microsoft seems to have forgotten; the company pitches it as discovering your email’s social network, among other things. It adds a side panel to your Outlook window, focusing on the sender of the email you’re looking at, and showing analytics, conversations, who else they’re related to, phone numbers, and more. They also add email search (now integrated with web search) and a smart scheduling assistant.
