Sify Rebrands Itself

image[by Cerius Shah] Indian Internet daddy Sify has gone uber with a new ‘eco-friendly’ logo which is also ‘business like’. I presume the new look is only for the enterprise edition as Sify.com still retains the old logo in the masthead.

Sify is also planning to integrate its broadband, Internet portals, cyber cafes and online gaming businesses. Raju Vegesna, CEO, states in the press release “We are no longer looking at Internet access and content separately. The content will ride on the access points.”

They are looking at leveraging their 3000 outlets to provider online learning facilities, bill payments, ticket bookings (and the list goes on). More importantly, the portal itself will be revamped over the next 6 months. Also, there are plans to form a unified access platform that will allow consumers to use a single identification to access the Internet from anywhere. Sounds a bit like OpenID to me. Hopefully with the new look will also come fresh fortunes. 60-65 percent of revenues come in from the enterprise business while 30-35 come in from their consumer services division.

Sify posted a net profit of Rs 258 million in 2007, as opposed to a Rs 60 million loss in 2006. A 198 million jump in one year can only mean two things, really good performance or a really good CFO. What say? More on Sify’s earnings here.
