Another newswire deal: Marketwire has agreed to acquire International Media Services, a firm providing newswire services in Latin America and Asia. The Miami-based IMS has operations in the US, Brazil and China and claims exclusive relationships with the Chinese government and other Asian news agencies. In addition to newswires, the company does translation, media monitoring, aggregation and other related services. IMS founder and CEO Hector Botero will join Marketwire as VP of emerging markets. Marketwire itself merged with Canadian firm CCNMatthews last year, before being acquired by PE firm Omers Capital Partners. Last week, PR Newswire announced the purchase of three Miami-based sister companies targeting the Hispanic market in the US. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Release.
