Found|LINKS for Dec. 30 – Jan. 5

This is the 2nd edition of Found|LINKs, our weekly wrap-up of posts from startup CEOs and founders – stuff they’re writing and reading. We’ll throw in other references we think you need, like #4, below. It’s a piece from TechDirt that you ought to read if you’re in a content-related business. It shows you can make money from anything, even almost ‘nothing’, if you have the right b-model/strategy.

Our Found|LINKS, for Dec. 30 through Jan 5th, 2008:

1) Inspiration: Jan. 3, in a note to Om, one of his fans suggests the book Fantastic Voyage from Ray Kurzweil, whose work you should read anyway. Ray has an incubator, too.

And check out the comments to Om… we’re all inspired by the outpouring of affection and good will.

2) Leadership: Jan. 3, From Harvard’s Working Knowledge, another worthy look at a study F|R has referenced before, Does Judgment Trump Experience? (Answer: YES.) Read the thoughtful comments to the post.
3) Business Model: Jan. 2, this from VC Fred Wilson, on the notion of freemium
and Twitter’s Business Model. (Ev Williams comments here. For further reference, reread Fred’s 2006 postMy Favorite Business Model).
4) Strategy: Jan. 5, from TechDirtDaily, Content Industry Could Learn from eBay Seller…
5) Utility: Jan.4, from F|R contributor, Ben Yoskovitz of StandoutJobs, How to Create the Perfect Company Blog.
6) Funding: this Paul Graham post ins’t new, at all. But I just reread it via Y Combinator (Paul is a partner there). You should reread it, too. How to Fund A Startup.
