A Web 2.0 Christmas

ScreenshotOn this Christmas Eve, web workers with small children are not doing so much work; we’re too busy trying to keep the little ones from exploding with anticipation. But that doesn’t mean we’re off the web. In a holiday tradition that has been running since 1955, NORAD is once again tracking Santa on his worldwide present-delivering rounds.

Offering further proof that “Web 2.0″ has reached the tipping point of just being part of everyday life, this year NORAD has gone the mashup route, with embedded Google Maps, a downloadable Google Earth file of Santa stops, and even a dedicated YouTube channel of SantaCam videos. I’ll be back with more productivity-oriented web news in a couple of days, but for now, I’m off to enjoy the holiday.
