I’m not sure I’d favor a touchscreen in a standard laptop, i.e.: a non-convertible, but jkkmobile seems to be enjoying one since he added tactile input to his Asus Eee PC. He picked up a used touchscreen from eBay for around $65 and installed it in place of the standard LCD panel on the Eee. The end result is web surfing with a finger, but of course, you need to hold the unit by the sides of the keyboard. Less then optimal for everyday use and you won’t get support for ink without the Tablet Edition of XP, but it again proves how versatile and hackable the little Eee is!
