San Diego-based Nirvanix, a provider of hosted media storage, has taken an unspecified investment from Intel (NSDQ: INTC) Capital. The company previously announced a $12 million investment from Mission Ventures, Valhalla Partners and Windward Ventures. Funding will go towards the development of its Storage Delivery Network, a service targeted at both large and small firms. Nirvanix has positioned itself as a competitor to Amazon’s (NSDQ: AMZN) Simple Storage Service (S3), a component of the retailer’s infrastructure-on-demand strategy. Release.
