Sprint Will Link To MySpace, Other FIM Sites From Its Portal

Sprint (NYSE: S) will link to MySpace Mobile from its portal early next year, following a deal with Fox Interactive Media (NYSE: NWS) to add the social-networking giant and several other FIM properties. The free, ad-supported MySpace Mobile site launched in beta in September; MySpace also offers subscription-based Java access through AT&T (NYSE: T). The other FIM mobile sites include IGN, FOXSports.com on MSN, RottenTomatoes, AskMen, MyFOX local affiliates and Photobucket. FIM president Peter Levinsohn said a few weeks ago that the company was looking to get these sorts of links for MySpace on many operators’ decks as AT&T’s exclusive expires. Getting operators to give MySpace a prominent spot on their decks shouldn’t be hard, given its popularity with users, so it seems likely that FIM is using it as leverage to get operators to add links to its other, less popular, sites as well.
