Metro Paper Taps Reader Videos, Music For Revenue

Associated Newspapers’ Metro freesheet is trialling a user video sharing site from which contributors can earn an advertising revenue share. MEview lets readers get a whole £1 for every 1,000 views of their video and £0.20 per mobile download – videos come with a 20-second pre-roll ad. The interface is a little annoying in that every video clicked from the front page refreshes at the top of the page rather than on its own page. Newsworthy clips uploaded during this beta phase include Ben Puking and Tilt Your Head.

Metro is also working on MEmusic, a section where artists can upload their tunes to be heard by readers. Tracks can be downloaded at a cost of £0.79, with artists getting a 70 percent cut. It’s a white-label rollout from the boldly named AmazingTunes.com.

Tina Pitman and Marie Harman, we will be shaving our heads for charity! our friend Peter Rhoden was recently diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. British doctors have said that it is inoperable and any treatment would only be pallative. With research however a treatment has been found in Europe that could cure him and we are trying to raise the £40.000 that this would cost. Please Help any amount would be gladly appreciated! For further information see our face book page Peter Rhoden”s Fund. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
