Nokia Changes Partners For Visual Radio, Services Upgraded (And Delayed?)

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and HP have quietly ended their collaboration on Visual Radio, reports the Inquirer after trying to use the service. The service launched in the UK last year with O2 and Virgin Radio, but now has a “coming soon” message…now that Nokia and HP have ended things, Nokia has teamed up with broadcast software supplier RCS, and “promises an upgrade to the old Visual Radio app. RCS also says that besides feeding Nokia’s Visual Radio-ready handsets, it can also send the same content to HD Radio, the Internet, DAB Digital Radio, and DVB-H”. This puts it more on terms with the Cliq service launched in the UK earlier this month. Visual Radio has also made inroads in India, although whether the service is being delayed there and in other countries is unclear.
