Behavioral targeter AdKnowledge has bought Alberta, Canada-based Cubics, an online ad network that is primarily focused on Facebook developers. If that seems like a narrow purview in which to operate, consider Cubics’ claim that it displays over 1 billion ads per month on Facebook, representing the ad inventory on over 500 application developers operating within that community. Financial terms were not disclosed.
This is Kansas City, MO-based AdKnowledge’s second acquisition in less than a month. As we previously reported, AdKnowledge bought the UK and Australian divisions of online ad network Media Run, which was intended to expand the company’s global reach. The goal behind the Cubics purchase was designed to connect AdKnowledge with the social networking space. Aside from its Facebook focus, Cubics has started to support ads on Friendster, which is still fairly prominent outside the U.S. Over the next few weeks, Cubics expects to roll out services related to Bebo and other OpenSocial networks as well.
