The agonizing wait is over for the XV6800, Verizon Wireless’s successor to the venerable XV6700. You can find the “new” device online at the Verizon Wireless website for $349 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate. Of course, this is the same HTC phone as Sprint’s Mogul which we saw some time ago, so if you’re familiar with the Mogul, you already know many of the specs of the XV6700. In case you forgot:
- 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen (320 x 240 resolution)
- Windows Mobile 6 Professional
- 64MB RAM/256MB ROM
- WiFi (802.11 b/g), EV-DO, Bluetooth with support for the Wireless Headset, Handsfree, A2DP, Serial Port Bluetooth Profiles
- Slideout, QWERTY keyboard
- 2-megapixel camera
Although I’ve read mixed reviews, I personally had the XV6700 and it worked very well for me; even as a tethered or Bluetooth EV-DO modem. I don’t see any specific information on the EV-DO inside the XV6800, so at this point, I’m not sure if it’s EV-DO Rev. 0 or the faster EV-DO Rev. A. In either case, I suspect that using it as a Bluetooth modem should be easier due to the simple Internet Sharing process in Windows Mobile 6.(via Engadget)
