Last week there was news that the new Nokia Internet Tablet operating system, OS2008, was available for N800 devices, but that wasn’t the most official of releases from Nokia. Instead, folks found the hosted image files and started to use them before Nokia offered them up. Considering the Nokia Internet Tablets have traditionally been hackable little devices, this shouldn’t surprise anyone, least of all Nokia. Either they figured that out, or the timetable is going according to schedule because today ThoughtFix found the OS for the N810 officially available for the N800. There’s still some talk this may be a beta build for the device, but at least now N800 users can feel welcome on the download site. I can’t get to it at the moment, so I’m wondering if it’s being hit hard or if Nokia had second thoughts.
