Alltel (NYSE: AT) has announced the launch of Parental Controls, due out in February next year. The content filtering application will be available free-of-charge to parents, and cover things like pornography, gambling, weapons and violence. Alltel has signed up Bytemobile to run the service, which will rely on a content filtering database and a “dynamic rating” feature, which will cover new and unrated sites. Alltel Parental Controls can also selectively block different pieces of content on the same page.
