Nokia goes Boingo

Nokia_n95Nokia informed me of a new initiative on their part that offers to open up their E-series and N-series phones to the internets in an innovative way.  The Finnish handset maker has a deal with WiFi king Boingo to allow said Nokia phones to easily jump on the web via WiFi for those professionals on the go.  Boingo is a WiFi provider that gives unlimited access to hotspots globally, especially in airports, and the Boingo Mobile application that is available for download now makes finding and jumping on those hotspots an automated breeze.  Boingo Mobile is now available for WiFi-enabled phones such as the N80i and N95 and there will soon be a version available for the N800/810.

Here’s How It Works:

Download and install the Boingo Mobile software optimized for Nokia S60-basedsmartphones or Maemo Linux-based Internet Tablets. The Boingo Mobile softwareeliminates the cumbersome task of connecting to public Wi-Fi signals byautomating the entire getting-online process – from identifying Boingohotspots, authenticating your Boingo account, to managing the connection. Allyou have to do is click once to get online.

To Download Boingo Mobile:

Install Boingo Mobile via the Download! application on select Nseries andEseries smartphones; and via the Tableteer site on N800 and N810 tablets.Boingo Mobile is also available for free at https://mobile.boingo.com/nokia/.It can be downloaded to a PC and transferred to a Nokia handset via Nokia PCSuite application.

To use Boingo Mobile you have to sign up for a Boingo account if you don’t already have one which will cost you $7.95 per month.  If you’re not a Boingo customer there is a 30-day trial with this initiative so it’s a good way to try them out.
