Games2Win (G2W) has launched CT Racer, a racing Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) in collaboration with Japanese gaming company SEGA and Korean company Hyundai Digital. It’s free to play, and will be monetized by allowing gamers to pay for customizing cars, car parts, and adding embellishments like stickers, spoilers, wheelcaps etc. For this G2W has made game cards of Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 available at Cybercafes and youth hangouts. Users can choose to drive in Seoul or Shanghai, and create tournament rooms and groups (like Mumbai vs Delhi). As per the release, the game is live in over 100 cybercafes, with a target of 1000 cybercafes within 6 months; G2W has tied up with Sify for their 225 Game Dromes. [via release]
The game appears to be limited to cybercafes, since I tried to register from home, and couldn’t. Here’s a list of cybercafes. Games2Win appears to be quite active – news updates on CT Racer list rankings, and the launch of two leagues – the Amateur League and the Pro League. Looks like there’s prize money involved.
