Writer's Guild of America Strike, In Part For Mobile Rights

The Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) went on strike today in an attempt to get a cut of revenue from new media, including mobile media. Specifically, they “want better compensation for new media uses of their work — the Internet, mobile phones and digital music players — than they received when their products were recycled on videocassette and DVD” as WSJ put it, and the article has further details on the shows affected and so on. PaidContent posted a piece on whether it will help online entertainment, and will probably follow it a bit more closely that we will, as there is some belief that this will help online media.
