– AT&T (NYSE: T) has launched an international data plan targeted at its iPhone users. For $59.99 a month they get 50 MB, available in 29 countries — excess data is $0.005/KB. For $24.99 they get 20 MB. This is in addition to domestic plans and not available as a stand-alone offer, obviously trying to prevent people from outside the US buying it and taking it away. The Metro has an article saying that some British people may go to France to buy an unlocked iPhone, but the general consensis is Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) will price the unlocked iPhone out of the market.
— Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) and Rogers have a deal that will put Yahoo Go 2.0 on a number of handsets, and make oneSearch the exclusive mobile internet search on the Rogers portal. (release)
— Mobisoaps… Telcogames is distributing a series of games from 3rd Person targeted at the female demographic and desribed as a playable soap opera. There are 16 games divided into four “seasons” which create a plot as they go along. Here’s the Misslead website. From the brief look I’ve had, there’s a couple of good ideas here: First, the developer has prepackaged sequels, which are intended to keep people coming back for the next episode (whether they do will depend on how engaging the game is, of course). Second, there’s four characters spread around the world so that most women would have someone to identify with. My one reservation is that I can’t find the price of the games anywhere — I think it would do well if each episode was a lot cheaper than the average mobile game, with the total for the series providing a lot more than the average mobile game.
— Island Def Jam Music Group has teamed with mobile community MocoSpace to create pages for its artists to connect to MocoSpace members — similar to MySpace. The first group is rap duo Playaz Circle — They have a profile page which has voice tones and other exclusive content, and has more than 20,000 new friends.
— Ad-funded mobile content community itsmy.com has noted that in five months 400,000 users have linked 3.1 million free mobile contents in the off-deck community. The most popular mobile mash up contents are user generated videos followed by user pictures and mobile blogs/diaries. 64 percent of all mash up content is already tagged.
