Los Altos, CA-based SezWho, a startup looking to improve conversations on blogs and other social media, has raised a $1 million first round from KPG Ventures. The company’s service allows users to rate the quality of user-generated content, while allowing contributors (blog commenters) to establish a reputation that can be carried around to participating sites. The challenge will be in getting sites to adopt the system, which they will only do if it actually improves online conversations in some way. It claims to already have 300 participating sites and 100,000 users. Competitors include the recently launched Disqus, and to an extent MyBlogLog, which was acquired by Yahoo this summer. Release.
