At last week’s CTIA, I did a brief interview with Chip Austin, managing partner of NYC-based i-Hatch Ventures., one of the only venture firms focused exclusively on investing in mobile content and apps sector. Prior to founding i-Hatch, Austin was President and CEO of Bertelsmann Online.
iHatch, founded in 1999, is invested in M-Metrics, Thumbplay, LimeLife, Reaxion now, and previously invested in Vindigo, WiderThan and others. He talked about the genesis of the fund, and is closing on its third fund, where he said they are bringing in strategics into the fund.
His views on sectors within mobile, sub-sectors he is bullish on, and some surprising sectors you would think they would be invested or interested in, but are not.
