Many folks swear by Copernic’s Desktop Search application and it’s been around at least as long (if not longer) than either Google’s or Microsoft’s desktop search products. Somehow, I’ve missed the fact that Copernic offers a mobile client; not an app to search for information on your mobile device, but a mobile client that can remotely search your desktop PC for information. The only reason I caught wind of the product was that they just announced an iPhone-friendly version of the application.
Looks like a great way to easily search for and retrieve information when you’re out and about, provided that you left your PC powered on. The mobile client is now in its second beta, so it’s not quite ready for prime time. You’ll also need either Windows Desktop Search or Copernic Desktop Search installed on your PC. There’s a list of FAQs on the mobile service right here, so check ‘em out if this sounds as useful to you as it does to me.
