Ballmer On Microsoft's Mobile Play

Cnet has done an interview with Steve Ballmer, focusing mostly on the mobile efforts by Microsoft. It touches on the idea that in many parts of the world a mobile phone will be the primary computing device for a lot of people, and of course the iPhone which has some stuff that is “quite nice”. He also talks about Microsoft’s competitors in the mobile market, leading with Symbian and emphasizing what Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) sees as its role in the industry: “You know, Google, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) and RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) would probably shine out because they are primarily software plays in some ways.” There are no Earth-shattering announcements but it’s a pretty good read.
