Frank Garcia is what I’d call a "power user" of UMPCs, meaning that he has the same disease drive that I have to use his mobile devices as full desktop replacements. He’s probably a step ahead of me as I know he programs applications on his devices; can’t say I’ve done that! So I was very interested to see how he finds the AMD Geode powered Everun UMPC from Raon Digital; he’s a got a full review up at Mobility Site, complete with a few videos to show how well or how poorly the device works in certain situations.
It actually ran better than I thought overall, no doubt in part due to XP installed on a 6 GB SDD flash drive complemented by a 60 GB hybrid hard drive for program and data storage. An innovative and strategic use of the newest disk technologies to offset a lower powered CPU in my opinion. Hang in there Frank: someone will find a cure for us yet!
