Verizon Wireless Drops Lawsuit Against FCC on Spectrum Auction Rules

Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) has suddenly had a big change of heart, again, on its stand on the upcoming spectrum auction in U.S.: it is withdrawing its lawsuit it filed last month challenging of the Federal Communications Commission’s rules on the auction. This helps the much anticipated sale going forward. The court had earlier rejected an attempt by VZW for its appeal to be considered on an expedited schedule in order that it could be concluded before the auction begins in January, reports DJN…this is the main reason why it dropped this lawsuit, it said in its notice with U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

The lawsuit was hoping to force the FCC to abandon the open-access conditions it has attached to around a third of the spectrum.
