Intel installs MIDLinux on Q1 Ultra. Verdict: not bad

MidlinuxRodfather picked up on Clayne Robertson’s experiment with MIDLinux on a Samsung Q1 Ultra and it’s an interesting read. What’s ironic is that Clayne works for Intel and as Rodfather appropriately notes: "With Menlow and Moorestown coming around the corner for MID’s, it’s kind of ironic the UMPC is the test subject for Midlinux."

Hit up Clayne’s impressions to see how it all worked out. He definitely had some positive experiences with Midlinux: getting Skype to run, surfing the web with Coolfox and more. However, battery life on his device seemed lower, while the touchscreen seemed more sensitive, often returning double characters. If you haven’t seen the Midlinux UI, APC Magazine has a nice gallery of shots here; you can see how everything appears optimized for touch on a smaller screen, something desperately needed on today’s WinTel UMPCs.
