Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom has announced it plans to buy a 30 percent stake in Taiwan’s biggest online music retailer Skysoft, and will add the content to its mobile, broadband and IPTV services. It wants to get a seat on the board as well, reports TeleGeography. Telcos buying into content companies is relatively common in Asia. Chunghwa has about 8.6 million mobile subscribers and gets 6.5 percent of its revenue from value added services — less than its competitors.
