The mobile industy is firmly behind a bill that was introduced by Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) that “would establish a national regulatory framework for the wireless industry and fully pre-empt state oversight of mobile-phone carriers” reports RCR News. The big hope is that it will stop a separate wireless consumer bill championed by Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.). Pryors bill would give the job of policying the industry to the FCC, something consumer groups aren’t keen on.
